Configuration Properties
- RMI Registry Port — This represents the port on which a remote object registry is started on the current host. Make sure the port you choose is not used for anything else on the current host. To find out which ports are used, open a MS DOS window and use the netstat command as follows:
netstat -a
It is recommended that for the RMI (Remote Method Invocation) Registry, you do not use port numbers which are commonly used for something else. Be biased towards port numbers greater than 100, preferably greater than 10000.
- JVM (Java Virtual Machine) Home Directory — The location where the SDK is installed. Type in the full path or click the Folder icon and use the PTC.Setup navigational tool to specify the home directory.
Gateway
- Port Number — This is the port used by the gateway. This is not the same as the HTTP port used by the Web server. Make sure that no other application is using the port you assign here. To find out which ports are used, open an MS DOS window and run:
netstat -a
- DUNS Number — Every company is assigned a DUNS (Data Universal Numbering System) number by Dun and Bradstreet Information Services http://www.dnb.com).
